Comparing Ekman-Larsson to Giordano as an aging decling player is ridiculous. You seem to forget Giordano had a career year at age 36. Ekman-Larsson has toiled for the lowly Yotes for years not making him look too good, especially the last three years where the team has been pathetic. I would suspect he would think he died and went to heaven if he ended up in Vancouver or Boston.

It all comes down to cost. Now if Lehner signed 5 for 5mill & Jarry signed 3 for 3.5, I would think if Flames can get Holtby at 4.0 for $4.0 mill per, I would be pretty good with that. Holtby is a very good goalie & 31 isnt that fcking old lol.
He's also free & that would allow us another potential big move on D or a forward.

I wonder, Pitt is getting jammed with Murray, would a Jankowski & Kyllington be worth trading to get Murray. Both players are RFA, going to be way cheaper than Murray & Pitt is a little shy on NHL ready young players. Murray will probably come in at a similar price tag as Holtby. Just curious if that is a reasonable deal.

Why would anyone pay to acquire Jank when the Flames aren't going to qualify him and he will be available for free next week?

Well I am considering it more as a throw in, Kyllington is the asset of any value but if Rutherford can get a week before he becomes free agent to resign a former 1st rounder at league minimum as a project, then yeah its more optics. Any kind of contract offer would be huge for Jankowski at this point. If any team that might take a flyer on him it'll be a team like the Pens who have pretty bare cupboards because they have trade so many picks on rentals over how many years now. Kyllington would be the piece worth getting back as many Flame sites/fans feel the kid should get the chance to play bottom pairing minutes at this point of his career. He's actually too good for the AHL if you check his stats. Kid has wheels just makes some bad mistakes on the ice but he's still pretty young & some Dmen take longer for the mental light to go on.

Hey Bro! Doing fine, keeping to a bubble as much as possible & trying to keep clear of this Covid cacksucker until they figure the thing out. How about you?

Yeah Murray isnt my choice either, sounds like Oilers are pushing hard. There are a few choices out there I wouldnt object to. I think typical Tre when everyone thinks he's going to move Gaudreau or Monahan he doesnt & he winds up pulling a big trade no one really expects. Hanifin may be that bigger move because he's going to pull the trigger on a different deal to bring in a big name Dman. Seems to be his m/o at the drafts. Then agai, if he does move Gaudreau, it could be to a team like Boston, for the likes of Debrusk & Macavoy. Something out of left field like that. lol. Should be a fun next few days.

Talbot was one of the worst goalies in the league two years ago and was the Flames MVP for 2020.

The fact that the Flames haven't signed Talbot yet sure makes it seem that there's a goalie like Holtby out there who's willing to sign for cheap.

If I was Treliving, I'd be looking to spend 10 million for a goalie on a 3 year deal and see who's the best guy who'll take that deal.

I think the Flames should. For the exact same reasons you think they shouldn’t.
